Rachel Terry Obituary

Rachel Shelton Terry, 38 of 8145 South Boston Hwy, Sutherlin, VA went home to be with the Lord on August 6, 2015 after being in declining health for the past eighteen months.
Rachel was born in Danville, VA on January 5, 1977 a daughter of James Robert “Jimmy” Shelton and Sherren Yates Shelton. She had lived her entire life on the Shelton Farm in the Sutherlin Community of Pittsylvania County. Rachel was an honor graduate of Dan River High School, Class of 1995 and an honor graduate of Campbell University, Class of 1998.
She was employed by the Pittsylvania County School System as a Kindergarten Teacher at Southside Elementary School. Rachel was an outstanding member of Lakewood Evangelical Methodist Church where she was very active with Bible School, preparing and conducting Christmas programs and she was a former Sunday School Teacher.
On July 17, 2000 Rachel married Charles G. Terry, Jr. who survives of the residence. She is also survived by her parents Jimmy & Sherren Shelton, two sons Kael Aaron Terry & Cooper Thomas Terry, one daughter Mallory Grace Terry, Grandmother Belle Shelton and God Parents Donald & Judy Harris all of Sutherlin, VA and a very faithful companion ‘Buddy”.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Reverend Ryan Call. Interment will follow in the Shelton-Terry Family Cemetery at Sutherlin, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and at other times they will be at the residence of her parents Jimmy & Sherren Shelton, 7691 South Boston Hwy, Sutherlin, VA 24594. The family suggests that in Lieu of Flowers that memorial donations be made to the Terry Children’s Disney Fund, C/o of Charles Terry, 8145 South Boston Hwy, Sutherlin, VA 24594 or to the Danville Cancer Association, 223 Riverview Drive, Suite J Danville, VA 24541 or to Ringgold Fire & Rescue, P.O.
